Using Glauco

Edit, scale, restart and delete

Change a resource from its detail view. Every change asks you to confirm first.

How Glauco confirms a change

Glauco only reads until you ask for a change. Every change opens a dialog that names the object and says what will happen. Cancel has the focus, so pressing Enter by accident does nothing. Press Esc or click outside the dialog to cancel.

Every change needs a license or the trial. In free mode, Glauco opens Get a license instead. See The trial and free mode.

Edit the YAML

  1. Open the resource.
  2. Open the YAML tab.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Change the YAML.
  5. Click Diff to compare with the live object. Click Editor to go back.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. In Apply changes to Deployment (or the kind you edit), click Apply.

Glauco sends the YAML as a server-side apply. Click Cancel to drop your changes.

Scale

For a Deployment, StatefulSet or ReplicaSet:

  1. Open the resource.
  2. Click Scale.
  3. Enter the number in Replicas. The dialog shows the current number.
  4. Click Scale, or press Enter.

The scale dialog is the confirm step. There is no second dialog.

Restart

For a Deployment, StatefulSet or DaemonSet:

  1. Open the resource and click Restart. In a table, use Restart… in the row menu.
  2. Read the dialog. It says the restart Triggers a rolling restart of its pods.
  3. Click Restart.

This works like kubectl rollout restart: Kubernetes replaces the pods one by one.

Delete

  1. Open the resource and click Delete. In a table, use Delete… in the row menu.
  2. Check the namespace and name in the dialog. It ends with This cannot be undone.
  3. Click Delete.

If a change fails

Glauco shows Something went wrong with the message from the cluster, for example a missing permission, and a Retry button.
