Using Glauco
Apply YAML
Create or update objects from a manifest you paste or open.
Apply a manifest
- Click Apply YAML in the sidebar.
- Check Target context:. Glauco applies to this context.
- Paste the YAML, drop a
.yamlor.ymlfile, or click Open file…. - Pick a Default namespace:. Glauco uses it for objects that do not set
metadata.namespace. - Click Dry run to check the manifest on the server. Nothing changes.
- Click Apply.
- Check the list of resources in the dialog, then click Apply.
You can also choose File > Open YAML…, or press ⌘O on macOS, or CtrlO on Windows and Linux, from any screen.
What Apply does
- Glauco applies each document in the file in turn. Separate documents with
---. - It uses server-side apply, like
kubectl apply --server-side. Existing objects are updated. Fields that another tool owns are taken over. - Files can be YAML or JSON, up to 5 MB.
- Glauco checks the YAML as you type. It lists problems under Fix these before applying: with the document, line and column.
Read the results
The results list each object with Dry run OK, Applied or Failed and the server's message. Click an applied object to open it.
A dry run cannot create a CustomResourceDefinition. If the manifest has a CRD and objects of that kind, the dry run fails for those objects. The real apply works.
Apply needs a license or the trial. In free mode, Glauco opens Get a license instead. See The trial and free mode.
A dry run works in free mode.
