Using Glauco
Connect to and switch clusters
Pick a context, switch between clusters, and add more kubeconfig files.
See which cluster you are on
The context chip at the top of the sidebar shows the current context. Under the name, it shows Connected, Connecting…, Disconnected or No cluster. Glauco works with one context at a time.
Switch context
- Click the context chip at the top of the sidebar.
- Type part of the name in Search clusters…. It matches context, cluster and user names.
- Click the context. The current one has a check mark.
You can also press ⌘K on macOS, or CtrlK on Windows and Linux and pick a context under Switch context.
When you switch:
- Glauco opens the Dashboard of the new cluster.
- The namespace goes back to All namespaces.
- Port-forwards to the old cluster stop.
- Your kubeconfig file does not change.
Add a kubeconfig file
Glauco reads KUBECONFIG or ~/.kube/config. To add clusters from another file:
- Click the context chip at the top of the sidebar.
- Click Add configuration…. You can also choose File > Add configuration… in the menu.
- In Import kubeconfig, choose the file.
The file must contain at least one context. Glauco remembers the path and reads the file again each time it starts. It does not copy or change the file. If a context name is in two files, the first file wins: your main kubeconfig comes first.
If the file has no contexts, Glauco shows Selected file is not a valid kubeconfig (no contexts found).
extraKubeconfigPaths in glauco-settings.json. The file is in ~/Library/Application Support/Glauco on macOS, %AppData%\Glauco on Windows and ~/.config/Glauco on Linux. If a cluster does not connect
After 8 seconds without an answer, or on an error, Glauco shows Can't connect to cluster with the reason and a Retry button. The sidebar and the switcher keep working, so you can pick another cluster. See Auth plugin not found and No clusters found.
