Troubleshooting
Metrics unavailable: install metrics-server
The usage columns show no values because the cluster has no metrics-server.
What you see
A banner above the table says:
Glauco shows
Metrics unavailable — install metrics-server to see CPU & Memory usage.
The CPU and memory bars are empty and show a dash. On the Dashboard, the top consumer panels say Metrics unavailable.
Glauco reads usage from the metrics.k8s.io API. metrics-server provides it. Glauco shows the banner when the API is missing or not ready yet.
Check metrics-server
kubectl top nodes
kubectl get apiservice v1beta1.metrics.k8s.ioIf kubectl top fails, the cluster has no working metrics-server. Most managed clusters (GKE, AKS, and EKS with the add-on) have one. Local clusters often do not.
Install metrics-server
Ask your cluster admin first. To install it yourself:
kubectl apply -f https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/metrics-server/releases/latest/download/components.yaml- minikube:
minikube addons enable metrics-server. - kind and other local clusters: metrics-server may need the
--kubelet-insecure-tlsargument.
Glauco asks for metrics every 10 seconds. The values show without a restart once metrics-server is ready.
Without metrics-server
On the Nodes screen, set CPU & Memory: to Requests or Limits. These come from the pod specs and work without metrics-server. See CPU and memory bars.
